HRW Criticizes Britain’s Report on Yemen for Ignoring Crimes of the Saudi-Led Aggression

Human Rights Watch said the annual report of the British Foreign Office of 2018, published last week, ignored the crimes of the coalition against Yemen.

The United Kingdom, which considers itself a world champion in the field of human rights, unfortunately failed this year’s report to do so, Human Rights said in an article written by the researcher Myrto Tilianaki, citing its contradiction on the war against Yemen.

“The report fails to identify the perpetrators of violations in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Burma and China, and the section on human rights defenders fails to mention those who have been jailed for their work,” she said.

The report’s most striking weakness is on Yemen. While acknowledging the many civilians killed in the conflict, it ignores the Saudi-led coalition’s responsibility for many of these deaths in unlawful attacks,” HRW stated in the report.

The report also failed to criticize the Saudi government in its record of local rights, despite the imprisonment of Saudi prominent defenders of women’s rights and torturing them.
