Saudi Crimes Increase in Hodeidah Amid Intensive Clashes: Report

Yamanyoon

The Saudi-led coalition crimes have escalated in the past few days within the coastal province of Hodeidah, located in western Yemen, in their biggest assault yet on the country, which was targeted with more than 250 aerial raids in the last three days. For almost a year, the Saudi coalition has failed to occupy the city, which has a lifeline port for more than %80 of the Yemeni people. The United Nations has warned that any assaults on the province will endanger millions of people lives, either by Saudi bombardments or by cutting or disrupting the work of this port that almost all of the aid into Yemen is going through.

The US-backed Saudi-led coalition targeted on Monday the central prison building in the city of Hodeidah, causing injuries to its inmates, where, according to a local source, five inmates of the central prison in the district of al-Hawook were injured as a result of a series of Saudi aerial raids on the prison.

On the same day, a worker of the Yamani factory was killed while more than 5 others were injured after a ground shelling took place by the Saudi mercenaries, which targeted one of the production areas of the factory.

In a preset time, a man and his wife were killed and their child was seriously injured on Sunday after a Saudi airstrike purchased from the US struck their home in the 7-Yolio area in the district of al-Hali, Hodeidah governorate.

The Saudi-UAE forces and mercenaries usually start targeting civilians after facing defeats on the front lines by the Yemeni army and the popular committees so they can cover up their losses.

The coalition warplanes have intensified its airstrikes on various areas of the city of Hodeidah during the past two days, causing a large number of killed and wounded civilians.

The chairman of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee (SRC), Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, considered that the military escalation in the West Coast is proof of the falsity of the American statements calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Yemen.

Al-Houthi stressed that the crimes against civilians in the West Coast in Hodeidah and throughout the period of the Saudi war aimed to halt any peace talks that could end the brutal war and bring peace, blaming the United States and its allies for the commission of these crimes, while calling on the Yemeni people to keep their steadfastness in confronting the US-backed Saudi-led coalition.

According to aid groups who declared on Monday of thousands of civilians in the outskirts of Hodeidah, where assaults of the Saudi-led coalition are held, being trapped in their houses with no access to food or water for over 4 days.

“All the people living between the airport and the university are trapped, the last four days have been very tough, it is beyond catastrophic levels,” said Isaac Ooko, Hodeidah’s area manager for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

“Air strikes have been very intense and the hovering of the jets causes permanent anxiety… Hodeidah has become a ghost city, people stay indoors and the streets are deserted,” According to a phone call between Ooko and Reuters.

A spokeswoman affiliated with the UNICEF was recently in Hodeidah, saying that the clashes are getting close to al-Thawra hospital, the main medical facility on Yemen’s western coast which treats thousands of people, including for cholera and diphtheria.
