Islahi Leader Killed in Taiz

A leader from the Islah party was killed and another wounded on Friday by gunmen in the western city of Taiz.

Local sources said that unknown gunmen opened fire on Rafiq al-Akhali and Omar Duqm while they were in al-Ajinat neighborhood, in Al-Muzaffar district, Western Taiz.

The sources indicated that al-Akhali was killed, while Duqm was shot in the abdomen and legs and still in intensive care at the hospital.

The incident took place while Dukm and al-Akhali were walking in the Ajinat neighborhood, during Friday prayers at the Al-Isa’i Mosque, where Dukm was his imam.
